The World Badminton Federation said in a statement that with the spread of the new Crown pneumonia epidemic worldwide, after consulting with the organizers of related events, the Badminton Association and the Continental Badminton Association, considering the impact of further strengthened travel, isolation restrictions and corresponding logistics problems on athletes, it is decided to cancel or postpone all competitions between March 16 and April 12.
In this decision, the World Badminton Federation also takes into account the health, safety and well-being of all athletes, their teams, officials and various badminton groups.
The World Badminton Federation said that the affected events included the Swiss Open held in Basel, Switzerland in March 17-22 (World Tour Super 300) and the Indian Open held in New Delhi, India in March 24-29 (World Tour Super 500), Malaysia Open (World Tour Super 750) held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from March 31 to April 5, Singapore Open (World Tour Super 500) held in Singapore on April 7-12, etc.
The World Badminton Federation said that the decision to suspend the game would take effect after the end of March 15, all-England Open Badminton Championships. Some of the events that were suspended belonged to the points race of the qualification for badminton competition in the Tokyo Olympic Games. The World Badminton Federation will further announce the relevant regulations on Olympic points.
