Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, February 28 (reporter Li Jia, Zhou Xin) the international sports arbitration court announced on the 28th that Sun Yang, the famous Chinese swimming General, failed to comply with the regulations of the World Anti-Doping Agency, decided to support the World Anti-Doping Agency’s appeal against the FINA’s judgment that Sun Yang had no fault, and ruled that Sun Yang was banned for 8 years and took effect immediately. Sun Yang expressed dissatisfaction with the verdict on the same day and appealed to the Swiss Federal Supreme Court.
Sun Yang said on Weibo: “I have just finished training, and I have always believed in my innocence. After receiving the verdict of the international sports arbitration court (international sports arbitration court), I was shocked, angry and incomprehensible! I obviously cooperated actively in accordance with various regulations of doping control, but because the inspectors were not qualified, they admitted this at that time, so they agreed not to take away blood samples, why is it my mistake?!”
He said: “Considering the problems existing in the international sports arbitration court (international sports arbitration court) in the trial of this case, I have entrusted a lawyer to appeal to the Swiss Federal Supreme Court according to law. Let more people know the truth. I firmly believe in my innocence! Firmly believe that the truth must overcome lies!”

Thanks to the concern of the State General Administration of Sports, China Swimming Association and leaders at all levels, and to the support of sports enthusiasts at home and abroad! I will fight to the end to defend my legitimate rights and interests!”
The China Swimming Association also quickly issued a statement on the same day saying that it was “deeply regretful” and supported Sun Yang to continue his appeal.
China Swimming Association said in a statement: “We deeply regret the ruling made by the international sports arbitration court on the case of the World Anti-Doping Agency appealing against the International Swimming Union anti-doping group and Sun Yang.”
The statement also said: “We support Sun Yang to continue to safeguard his legitimate rights and interests by legal means. At the same time, it is hoped that the World Anti-Doping Agency, sports organization and doping control agency will improve and perfect the rules, strictly implement the rules including the requirements of the qualification certificate of the doping control personnel, and cannot ignore the legal rights of the athletes, no one can be allowed to engage in the doping control work closely related to the vital interests of athletes.”
