In order to avoid the hot summer weather in Tokyo, more than a month ago, the Tokyo Olympic organizing committee decided to change the marathon venue from Tokyo to Sapporo in northern Japan.
According to the Tokyo Olympic organizing committee, the starting point and ending point of the men’s and women’s marathon in the Olympic Games are located in Datong Park, Sapporo City. The race route has three laps. The first lap is about the length of a half marathon, while the other two laps are about 10 kilometers each.
The women’s marathon will be held on August 8 next year, while the men’s marathon will be held on August 9, the last day of the Tokyo Olympic Games.
The Tokyo Paralympic marathon will be held in Tokyo, because the opening time of the Paralympic Games is two weeks later than that of the Olympic Games, when Tokyo has entered a relatively cool September.
