The new schedule includes 11 races in total. Each race will no longer set ranking points or annual Champions. The Finals originally scheduled to be held in Zurich, Switzerland will also be canceled.
Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, May 13 (Reporter Wu Junkuan, Zhang Yueshan) the world Tian Lian announced the adjusted temporary schedule of 202020diamond league on the official website on the 12th European time. The new schedule includes 11 races in total. Each race will no longer set ranking points or annual Champions. The Finals originally scheduled to be held in Zurich, Switzerland will also be canceled.
According to the original plan of the world field federation, the Diamond League 2020 season will contain 14 matches, of which the last Zurich is the finals. The first race in the plan is Doha, Qatar on April 17. However, due to the impact of the new coronavirus epidemic, many races cannot be held as scheduled. According to the newly announced temporary schedule, the first stop of the 2020 Diamond League will be adjusted to be held in Monaco on August 14, and the last race will be held in China on October 17. In addition, the Diamond League Shanghai station is scheduled to be held on September 19.
The World Tian Lian said that considering the impact of the current epidemic on the training preparation and flight competition of athletes around the world to varying degrees, the fairness of the competitive level of each race cannot be guaranteed, therefore, this season’s Diamond League no longer sets points and no longer produces a championship. The Diamond League finals scheduled to be held in Zurich in September will be canceled. Also canceled are the two races of Monaco labarte station and London station.
Because points are no longer set, there is no need to set up corresponding Diamond League events according to the requirements of World Field Federation for each race. However, the world field Federation said that the organizers of each station competition need to announce the project setting, competition arrangement and other specific contents of this station competition at least two months in advance to facilitate athletes from all over the world to choose to participate in the competition.
The World Field Federation also said that Zurich would hold the final of the Diamond League in the 2021th and 2022th seasons. After negotiation, Eugene, the host city of the original 2022-season finals, will postpone the 2023-season finals.
