Chinese team Han cancan ranked sixth in the women’s speed competition, creating the best result in China’s ice climbing history.
Xinhua News Agency, Changchun, January 5 (reporter Zhou Wanpeng, Xu Ziheng) the three-day international joint Ice Climbing World Cup China (Changchun) station ended at Lianhua Mountain Eco-tourism resort in Changchun on the 5th, in the men’s and women’s speed games and the difficulty games, the Russian team won two gold medals, and the French team and the South Korean team each won one gold. Chinese team Han cancan ranked sixth in the women’s speed competition, creating the best result in China’s ice climbing history.
Nearly 80 athletes from 16 countries and regions including China, the United States, Canada, Russia and France participated in this competition.
The traditional strong Russian team won the top three men’s and women’s speed matches, and Anton Nemov and Valeria Bogdan won the men’s and women’s championships. The gold medal in the men’s difficulty competition was won by French player Lorna rajevich, and South Korean player Shen Yunshan won the gold medal in the women’s difficulty competition.
The Chinese team sent a total of 15 players to play this time. Each of the male and female teams entered the top eight of the speed competition. Among them, Han cancan, the women’s team, performed well and won the sixth place in the women’s group, creating the best result in China’s ice climbing history.
17-year-old Han cancan once won the championship of the National Ice Climbing Championship in 2019. She said in an interview with reporters after the game: “She has played the overall level of training, however, there are still many shortcomings in the experience of vertical fridge. I hope to learn more in competitions with foreign masters and strive to make progress.”
Another Chinese player Zhang Dingfeng made a mistake in the men’s speed competition and finally ranked eighth. “There is still a problem with the mentality. There is some tension in the competition and the technical aspects need to be continuously strengthened.” Zhang Dingfeng said.
Li Guangxu, coach of China’s national ice climbing team, said that compared with the previous Ice Climbing World Cup held in Beijing, this competition has increased the difficulty in track design, however, it is satisfactory that young players can achieve such results after they adapt to it for a short time. Next, the team will summarize the shortcomings of the game, train hard, improve the experience and psychological quality of the players, and prepare for the next stage.
