In 2003, he was awarded the title of honorary secretary-general of the International Basketball Federation. Stankovic has always been very concerned about Chinese basketball. The world women’s basketball championships in 2002 was the first official FIBA tournament held in China. The success of the tournament cannot be achieved without the strong support of Stankovic and FIBA.
