Xinhua News Agency, Lausanne, February 28, on 28th, FINA issued a statement on its official website, saying that it would implement the ruling of the international sports arbitration court on Sun Yang.
On 28th, the international sports arbitration court announced that Sun Yang, the Chinese swimming star, failed to comply with the regulations of the World Anti-Doping Agency and decided to ban Sun Yang for 8 years.
FINA said: “Although there will be the next legal action (referring to Sun Yang’s appeal), FINA will execute the penalty decision for the swimmer according to the verdict. FINA also noticed the judgment of the international sports arbitration court on Sun Yang’s competition results.”
The international sports arbitration court said in the ruling that since there was no evidence that Sun Yang had any act of taking stimulants before the anti-test on September 4, 2018, therefore, Sun Yang’s results in all competitions before the ruling are still valid.
