As for whether the 14th National Games will make time adjustments, it is still uncertain.
On March 24, the International Olympic Committee and the Tokyo Olympic organizing committee issued a joint statement saying that the 32nd Olympic Games held in Tokyo were rescheduled after 2020 due to the impact of the new coronavirus epidemic, but it will be held no later than the summer of 2021. Although the 14th National Games has not announced the specific date of the competition in 2021, in the Shaanxi provincial Preparatory Committee’s open (closed) curtain-style conceptual creative plan last year, it was mentioned that the opening ceremony of the 2021 National Games was tentatively scheduled to be held in Xi’an Olympic Sports Center Stadium on August 28, 2021, and the closing ceremony will be held in Xi’an Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium on September 9, 2021. If the Olympic Games and the National Games are held in a short period of time, it may have an impact on the preparation of domestic elite athletes for the two events.
“Today (27th) afternoon, we are going to participate in a video conference organized by the State Sports General Administration, mainly to study some of our countermeasures after the delay of the Tokyo Olympic Games. Eight provinces will speak at this meeting, and Shaanxi is one of them.” Xu Peng said: “(the extension of Tokyo Olympic Games will definitely affect the holding of the National Games in Shaanxi province). The State General Administration of Sports and the Shaanxi provincial government will fully consider it. After the specific opinions are put forward, after the 14th National Games is approved, we will release it to the society in time.”
In addition, Xu Peng also revealed that all the 14th transportation venues have returned to work. According to the plan, all venues will be fully completed by June 30 this year, and the trial run will be completed and the test competition will be prepared before December 31.
