Gao Gu zhengzhe told the reporter: “The new date of the Olympic Games has been set, and our mission is to prepare the best stage for next year’s Olympic Games.”
Xinhua News Agency, Tokyo, May 22 (Reporter Prince Jiang) Tokyo Olympic organizing committee spokesman Gao Gu zhengzhe said on the 22nd that Tokyo Olympic organizing committee and the International Olympic Committee are “closely cooperating” and are fully preparing for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Gao Gu zhengzhe told Xinhua news agency: “The new date of the Olympic Games has been set, and our mission is to prepare the best stage for next year’s Olympic Games.”
He also said: “The Tokyo Olympic organizing committee and the International Olympic Committee are working closely together, and the International Olympic Committee has devoted all its efforts to hold the Olympic Games in 2021.”
Bach, the president of the International Olympic Committee, said in an interview with the BBC that if the Tokyo Olympic Games, which was postponed for one year, could not be held in 2021, it would be canceled. The chief executive officer of Tokyo organizing committee for the Olympic Games, Mr Wu, said at an online press conference the day before that he saw Bach’s interview through media reports, but it was inconvenient to comment because he did not talk directly with Bach.
But minlang wutto said next that he did not think Bach’s statement of “canceling the Olympics” was the consensus reached between the International Olympic Committee and the Tokyo Olympic organizing committee. In an interview with Japanese media at the end of April, Yoshiro Mori, chairman of the Tokyo Olympic organizing committee, also expressed the view that the Olympic Games would be canceled once it could not be carried out next year.
Minlang Wudeng said: “chairman Yoshiro Mori at that time meant that we should have a strong mind, that is, to actively prepare for the Olympic Games and strive for a successful hosting in 2021. In fact, chairman Bach has said on many occasions that there is still more than a year before the opening of the Olympic Games, and we should have enough time to prepare for the Olympic games as scheduled.”
