nowadays, many city residents like to spend weekends with fitness. In Lhasa, which is located in the snowy plateau, people’s weekend fitness choices may be more “hard core”-go to the snowy mountain with an altitude of 6,000 meters.

On the 28th, Ma Xuejing, a citizen of Lhasa, took a bus from Lhasa city at eight o’clock in the morning and walked north along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway. It took three hours to reach half of a snow mountain with an altitude of 6010 meters. She got out of the car and changed into mountain boots and alpenstock. She stepped on the soft snow surface under the leadership of a professional coach. From the snow line at an altitude of 5400 meters up the gentle hillside, it took her three hours to walk to a mouth at an altitude of 5700 meters. After taking a photo, she and her friends talked and laughed all the way down, and went back to the bus point and drank the Tibetan sweet tea prepared by the coaches. In the evening, she had returned to her home in the city.

The snow mountain on foot by Ma Xuejing is named Luo duifeng, which is located in the western section of Nyainqentanglha range. It is a snow mountain at the junction of Lhasa and northern Tibet Plateau in Lhasa city Damxung County. This is an activity of “ice and snow sports entering institutions, entering enterprises and institutions” sponsored by the sports bureau of Tibet autonomous region and the working committee of the Organs Directly under the autonomous region. About 150 Lhasa citizens are the same as Ma Xuejing, one day, a snow mountain with an altitude of 6,000 meters was “punched in” in the suburb of Lhasa.

“This activity is to cooperate with the ‘sixth National Popular ice and snow season’, and also to let ice and snow outdoor sports truly enter the lives of ordinary people in Tibet.” Zirendanda, a mountaineering coach of the Tibet autonomous region Sports Bureau, said.

“I have been to Tibet for ten years and have never been to snow mountain, because most of the snow mountain in Tibet has inconvenient transportation and the snow is at a high altitude. It was the first time I saw it when I drove directly to the snowy mountain like this.” Ma Xuejing said that she usually lived in Lhasa at an altitude of more than 3,600 meters, which made her adapt to the altitude of more than 5,000 meters soon, and the activity intensity was not strong. She was walking like flying when she went down the mountain.

Before going up the mountain, the mountaineering coach from Tibet Mountaineering Team and Tibet Shengshan mountaineering adventure Service Co., Ltd. also explained the basic technical knowledge of climbing snow mountain to the participants: hiking boots and how to wear crampons, how to use the safety belt, how to walk on the snow surface, etc. Although many people are in close contact with the snow mountain for the first time, they can basically walk on the snow surface after some study.

Some participants take selfies all the way through snow, and sometimes they fall down because they are not skilled in walking skills. Because the snow surface of lodhei peak is soft enough, these episodes will not really hurt the hikers. Some people climbed up from the snow and shouted with a smile, “it’s so cool!”

In addition to the hiking experience, the members of the Tibet ski team also glided by the hiking team from time to time, offering skiing performances in people’s cheers. According to the coach of the ski team, avanzasi, because the slope of lodhei peak is gentle, there is no steep ice rock snow slope along the way, so it is also an ideal place for skiing. However, when the climbers are not in good condition, the ski team can also directly ski the patients and transport them to areas with relatively low altitude after absorbing oxygen at the snow line.

It is understood that the Tibetan Mountaineering Management Department is continuously carrying out the mountain census, and similar hiking and skiing experience activities may be extended to more areas in the future. Under the background of “driving 0.3 billion people to participate in ice and snow sports”, Tibetan sports people hope that in addition to developing competitive sports, ice and snow and outdoor sports can truly promote the health cause of all people in Tibet, make the life of plateau residents more colorful.

“If the operation is mature, I would like to bring my family over the weekend.” Ma Xuejing said, “especially my son, who was born in Tibet and especially likes climbing mountains. He must be better than me on the snow mountain!”
