Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, April 9th, China Chess Association News, in order to play a positive role in uniting chess fans through the Internet, the World Chess Federation serves as the guiding unit, the chess and card Sports Management Center of the State General Administration of Sports, the first world chess network chess tournament jointly sponsored by the Chinese Chess Association will be held on the daily chess APP platform from 9th to 19th.
This competition is the first worldwide online chess competition, attracting nearly 100 players from 23 countries and regions including Asia, Europe, North America, South America and Oceania. Chess enthusiasts from all over the world cross regions and overcome time difference. They participate in online matches at home and communicate and compete with chess friends from all over the world in real time through the Internet. The competition breaks the traditional offline competition mode and keeps pace with the times. The online competition and watching forms not only release the competitive enthusiasm of chess lovers, it also promotes and spreads chess culture and charm in a wider space.
The competition is divided into two stages: qualifier and knockout. The Qualifier stage adopts 7 rounds of points arrangement, and the top six are admitted to the knockout stage. The elimination stage consists of two games of fast chess, 15 minutes per side and 10 seconds per step. If the two games are tied, a play-off will be added, with 5 minutes per side and 3 seconds per step, and the black side will win. As the host, the Chinese team won two straight-through tickets for the elimination match, which were respectively won by Xu Chao, the individual champion of the 16th World Chess Championship in 2019 and Wang Tianyi, the champion of the National Chess Championship (Individual) in 2019.
