In view of the uncertainty of the development of the Global New Coronavirus epidemic, in order to maintain the health and safety of athletes, under the requirements of the UAE authorities, FINA made a decision to postpone the short Pool World Championship to December of the following year. In addition, the FINA world water sports conference will also be held in Abu Dhabi from December 10-12.

This will be the second time in the history of the UAE that the 10th short Pool World Championship will be held in Dubai, UAE in 2010.

Magrioni, the chairman of FINA, said: “In the past few weeks, we have had close contact with the UAE authorities on this matter. For all the people participating in the competition, we think this is the most appropriate solution. The competition held in Abu Dhabi in December 2021 will be a great achievement and will once again provide inspiration for the development of swimming and water sports in the region.”

FINA also announced that the FINA Congress will be held in Doha, Qatar on June 5, 2021to hold the FINA Executive Committee election from 2021 to 2025.
