On February 14 this year, John Coates, chairman of the Tokyo Olympic Games Coordination Committee of the International Olympic Committee, revealed that Bach would go to the Japanese city of Hiroshima on May 18 to participate in the Olympic torch relay and present a wreath to the monument to the victims of the atomic bomb explosion, and visit Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. After the Tokyo Olympics was postponed, Bach still said on March 24 that he would visit Japan according to the original date.
However, as the epidemic spread around the world, miniro Wu said Bach’s trip to Japan was canceled, and it was still unknown when Bach would visit Japan again.
Mintaro Wu also responded to the question of whether the Tokyo Olympics could be held as scheduled next year. He said: “I don’t think anyone can say whether the epidemic can be controlled before next July. Of course, we can’t give you a clear answer. We have decided to postpone the Olympic Games for one year, so what we have to do is to try our best to prepare for the Games. We sincerely hope that human beings can overcome the new coronavirus crisis next year.”
When asked if there were any alternatives, Wudeng minlang said: “We should go all out instead of considering alternatives. Human beings should combine all their technologies and wisdom and work hard to develop therapeutic methods, drugs and vaccines.”
In addition, the meeting between the Tokyo Olympic Games Coordination Committee of the International Olympic Committee and the Tokyo Olympic organizing committee originally planned to be held recently has also changed from field investigation to online meeting.
Mintaro Wu said that they are communicating with all parties and “strongly hope” that the competition venues and schedule of the Tokyo Olympic Games next year can be promoted as planned.
In response to the outbreak of the new coronavirus, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe issued an emergency declaration on the 7th. All staff of Tokyo Olympic organizing committee have also started to work from home since the 8th. “No one is infected with the cocog,” said Mr Wu.”
