The NHK reported that the Japanese government would hold a welcome banquet for these leaders before the opening ceremony on the evening of July 24. The banquet was originally planned to be held in the guest house near the international arena as the main stadium, but because of the large number of participants, it is now planned to change the venue of the banquet to the imperial residence.

It is reported that Japanese emperor, empress and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will all attend the welcome party.
