Xinhua News Agency, Berlin, April 28 (Reporter Liu Wei) a public opinion survey commissioned by a market research and data analysis company Deutsche Presse-Agentur showed that, 49 percent of Germans support the Bundesliga ghost race, which is expected to recover in May, to be broadcast live on free TV and online platforms.

Bundesliga games are usually played on SKY pay TV channel (SKY) and sports streaming live platform DAZN, and audiences need to pay a certain fee to watch the games. The German professional football league (DFL) had previously refused to broadcast games for free, saying that this would undermine the contract between the league and the rights-holding broadcasters. However, some insiders worry that if the “ghost match” is played on the paid platform, fans will gather to watch it in families or places with pay TV channels, increasing the risk of the spread of the new coronavirus.

Deutsche Presse-Agentur commissioned YouGov to conduct this survey on German groups over 18 years old in April 24-27, with 2041 people participating in the questionnaire survey.
